Aim: The aim of this study was to compare the perception of selected stressors acting on the Czech intensive care unit (ICU) of Czech patients, their families and attending nurses. Design: A descriptive comparative study. Methods: Stressor perception was measured by a Czech version of the standardised questionnaire, The Environmental Stressor Questionnaire (ESQ). The sample group consisted of 90 people. Data were obtained via pairing (patient - relative - nurse). The family and the attending nurses evaluated stressors by empathising with the patient. Results: When evaluating the data obtained, it was ascertained that the...

Aim: The study aimed to identify perceived emotional and situational hearing handicap in the elderly and their family members. Design: A cross-sectional study. Methods: The sample comprised 256 respondents (128 hearing-impaired elderly patients and 128 family members). Data were collected in an audiology office over a period of four months. To measure their quality of life, the full version of the standardized HHIE questionnaire was used in elderly patients with hearing loss and the modified HHIE-SP instrument in their family members. Results: The study results suggest that elderly patients' hearing loss affects the quality...

Aim: In our research we wanted to propose a holistic model of palliative care from the perspective of nurses. Additionally, we compared the presence of specific aspects of palliative care (psychological, physical, social and spiritual) in hospitals and the community/home environment. Design: A quantitative cross-sectional study was used. Methods: The sample consisted of 127 nurses (92 hospital nurses, 35 community nurses). The proposed model was tested using a specific method of structural equation modeling (SEM) known as partial least squares (PLS). Results: Our research confirmed that physical aspects are influenced both...

Aim: To verify, based on clinical validation whether NANDA-I identified defining characteristics of the nursing diagnosis Acute Pain (00132) actually occurred in patients hospitalised in Intensive Care Units in Slovakia and the Czech Republic by means of the Clinical Diagnostic Validity Model. Design: Clinical validation of the nursing diagnosis can be verified if defining characteristics created on the basis of conceptual analysis and validation by experts are confirmed by clinical data. Methods: We selected Fehring's Clinical Diagnostic Validity Model as the method of clinical validation. Results: According to the values...

Cent Eur J Nurs Midw 2018, 9(1):799-810 | DOI: 10.15452/CEJNM.2018.09.0007
Aim: To summarize relevant information on the creation and validation of the Quality of Nursing Diagnoses, Interventions and Outcomes (Q-DIO) assessment instrument. Design: A literature review. Methods: To search for studies, the first two steps of a standard evidence-based healthcare approach were used: 1) formulation of a search question and 2) structured documented search including assessment of the relevance of abstracts and full text of studies to the search question and inclusion criteria. In relevant studies, the level of evidence was evaluated using the Joanna Briggs Institute categories. Results: Out of 212 results...
