Call for texts on ERIS Web Journal 1/2013

Social Work and Social Space

ERIS Web Journal will discuss the relationships between Social problems and (Social) Spaces and the role of Social Work in analysing and solving social problems of individuals or groups living and acting in (social) spaces, mainly in the 'boundaries' of towns or cities. Hereby Social Work is challenged in theory and practice.

The articles should be focussed, for example, on:

  • the understanding of space in the social sciences, social as well as physical dimensions of space (can we speak about the 'spatial turn' in social work?)
  • the space-relation of social behaviour – how shapes the special structure of a town/city quarter the behaviour and the consciousness of individuals?
  • the space relations of the social problems – how influence or shape the structure of a (social) space the development and the shape of social problems?
  • the strategies and methods of Social Work acting in above all deprived (social) spaces for example by community work or town/city quarter-related social work.
  • the socio-political function of social work on the community level – how can Social Work, together with the inhabitants, influence the structure of a town/city quarter in order to improve the life conditions of a quarter?

Please send your contribution to the ERIS Web Journal editors until September 30, 2012 latest and give special attention to the "Guidelines for submission of articles for the European Research Institute for Social Work (ERIS) Web Journal" and remember that the ERIS Web Journal Editorial Board will referee your article. The authors will be informed about the result of peer review process in January 2013.

We welcome also „news from research“ or books reviews related to the topic Social Work and (Social) Space.

With best wishes
